Memory as Archive // A short Documentary on Inventing Choreographic Works with Archives
This short documentary offers a window into Artistic Director of T. Lang Dance and Spelman College Associate Professor T. Lang’s course, where students explore how archives can move beyond storage into living, breathing choreographic practice. Blending dance, data, and storytelling, the film captures the creative process of transforming archival research into performance, revealing both the rigor of academic inquiry and the artistry of embodied expression. It is both a teaching tool, a recruitment lens, and a testament to the innovative intersections of dance and memory at the college level.
